12 Counts Of Rape: Lynn Sex Offender Convicted Of Abusing Children, DA Says

A registered sex offender from Lynn has been convicted of a dozen counts of rape and sexually abusing multiple children, officials said.

William Forbes, age 69, was convicted of 12 felony counts for raping and sexually abusing children on Tuesday, May 2, according to the Essex County District Attorney's Office. He was indicted in 2021 on charges of abusing two victims in Lynn. 

Forbes' charges included multiple counts of rape of a child, assault to rape, indecent assault and battery on a person under 14, and indecent assault and battery on a person 14 or over. 

Forbes was previously convicted of indecent assault and battery on a person with an intellectual disability in August 2016, according to the Massachusetts Sex Offender Registry Board.

His bail was revoked and is being held in police custody ahead of his sentencing on May 19, the DA's Office reports. The conviction came after a four-day trial that started on Tuesday, April 25.
